Asvel Villeurbanne added size and power to its frontcourt by inking big man Alpha Kaba, who signed a three-year contract with the French powerhouse on Friday. Kaba (2.09 meters, 20 years old) arrives from Mega Leks, where he averaged 10.9 points and 7.5 rebounds in 25 Adriatic League games last season. He was the second-best rebounder in both the Adriatic League and the Basketball Champions League. Kaba started his career with Elan Bearnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez, joining Mega in 2014. He helped Mega win the Serbian Cup title - the club's first-ever trophy - in 2016. Kaba has also been a member of the French U16, U18 and U20 national teams. "It is a great satisfaction to have been able to sign Alpha, a young but already productive, promising big man that is part of our long-term project," Asvel president Tony Parker said. "The fact that he signed a three-year contract shows our desire to keep our players and have a real identity which can be joined by our fans and partners."
