Partizan keeps star guard Marinkovic

Partizan NIS Belgrade has reached a new agreement with rising star shooting guard Vanja Marinkovic for the next two seasons, the club announced Friday. Marinkovic (1.98 meters, 21 years old) averaged 12.5 points on 40% three-point shooting and 3.6 rebounds in eight 7DAYS EuroCup games last season. Born in Belgrade, Marinkovic joined Partizan at a very young age, making his first-team debut in the 2013-14 season. He helped Partizan win the Serbian Cup title last season and has been a member of the Serbian national team in all categories from U16 to senior. Marinkovic helped Serbia win three medals in youth tournaments: a silver at the 2014 U18 European Championships, bronzes at the 2013 U16 European Championship and the 2014 U17 World Championship. "Partizan and I are tied up by something much bigger than a contract, so there was not any dilemma," Marinkovic said. "I am very glad to stay and I am sure the next season, both for the club and for me, will be much better than the previous one. We will do our best to be at the level that is expected from Partizan in all competitions."
