UNICS Kazan extended a contract with power forward Melvin Ejim to work together for another next season, the club announced on Saturday. Ejim (2.01 meters, 27 years old) averaged 9.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 steals in 7DAYS EuroCup last season, ranking second on the team in rebounds and steals, and helping UNICS reach the quarterfinals. In the VTB League, Ejim posted 9.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists last season. Ejim was previously the Italian League MVP for the 2016-17 season when he led Umana Reyer Venice to its first title in 74 years. Ejim started his professional career with Virtus Roma of Italy when he also made his EuroCup debut in 2014. Ejim has also played for Erie Bay of the D-League, and is a member of the Canadian national team, helping it win a gold medal at the 2015 Tuto Marchand Cup and reach silver at the 2015 Pan American Games.
