Valencia went to Thomas, again and again

Valencia Basket improved to 3-0 in Group C, but not before battling hard against a young but tough Partizan NIS Belgrade side. It took a while for Valencia to take control of the game, and they did not have the victory secured until the final 40 seconds. The main protagonist, once again, was big man Will Thomas.

Thomas scored 7 points in a 12-0 third-quarter run that Valencia used to take a 13-point advantage. After Partizan cut the deficit to 6 in the closing minutes, Thomas was back. First, he went inside and drew a foul, making one free throw. Then he grabbed a key defensive rebound. Finally, he put the game away by making a tough short jumper with the shot clock about to expire. It put Valencia up by 8 points with 75 seconds left and all but sealed the deal.

"We keep finding Will Thomas again and again," Valencia head coach Jaume Ponsarnau said after the game. "He plays with heart and mind. He is a great and unbelievable player. We want to play the key moments with him, because he always takes advantage of them for the team."

Thomas finished with game-high 17 points, after scoring 16 in each of the first two rounds. Together with hustling center Mike Tobey and star Bojan Dubljevic, Valencia possesses what is arguably the best frontcourt in all of the EuroCup.
