Following its Round 4 home loss to Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar in Group B of the 7DAYS EuroCup, a storm of changes hit Cedevita Zagreb on Thursday. The most important one affected the head coach position as Sito Alonso, who just arrived last summer, was released in favor of Slaven Rimac, who was currently coaching the Cedevita team playing in the Croatian League. Rimac had been an assistant coach of the club's EuroCup team last season under Jure Zdovc.
Alonso leaves Cedevita with a 2-2 record in EuroCup regular season Group B after wins against ALBA Berlin and Arka Gdynia. In the Adriatic League, Cedevita currently sits in ninth place with a 1-3 record. Rimac is a former player who had a career spanning from 1989 to 2012. After that, he started coaching at Cibona Zagreb as an assistant before becoming the head coach there from 2013 to 2015. Last season he moved to Cedevita as an assistant and now was in charge of the Cedevita team that plays only in the Croatian League.
