Gescrap BB inks big Rakovic to two-year deal
Jul 10, 2012
Gescrap Bilbao Basket signed big man Milovan Rakovic to a two-year deal, the club announced Tuesday. Rakovic (2.08 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Zalgiris Kaunas, where he averaged 7.1 points and 2.6 rebounds in 15 minutes over 16 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games last season in a reserve role. He also posted 9.8 points and 2.4 rebounds in the Lithuanian League to help Zalgiris finish the season with the Baltic League, Lithuanian League and Lithuanian Cup crowns. It was his second season in the Euroleague after helping Montepaschi Siena reach the Final Four the previous year. Rakovic was the only Montepaschi player to start every Euroleague game that season. He also lifted the Italian League and Italian Cup trophies with Siena. In his only previous Eurocup campaign, Rakovic compiled averages of 14.3 points and 6 rebounds for Spartak St. Petersburg in the 2009-10 season. He has also played for Mega Ishrana, Atlas Banka Novi Beograd and Polet Keramika Novi Becej in his native Serbia during his career.
Looking ahead: Group C
With one team already in the Top 16 and two more capable of qualifying in Round 7, Group C might soon down to a three-way race for the fourth and final spot.
