UNICS Kazan reached a new agreement with head coach Dimitris Priftis to stay together for at least one more year, with an option to extend his contract until the end of the 2020-21 season, the club announced on Tuesday. Priftis, 50, has coached UNICS for the last two seasons, helping the Russian powerhouse reach the 7DAYS EuroCup Semifinals this year. Priftis also took UNICS to the VTB League's semifinals in each of the last two seasons. He has also coached Aris Thessaloniki, Ikaros Kallitheas, AEK Athens and Enosi Kalathosfairisis Kavalas of his native Greece. Priftis has also worked for Dafni, Ionikos, AEK, Panathinaikos Athens and the Greek national team as an assistant coach. In his three seasons in the EuroCup – two with UNICS, one with Aris – Priftis has amassed a 38-18 record for 67.9% winning rate.
