German squad ratiopharm Ulm had a change on the sidelines as it signed former player Jaka Lakovic to a three-year contract as a head coach of the team. Lakovic, 40 years old, arrives from Joventut Badalona where he was an assistant coach until the end of last season. This will be Lakovic's debut as a head coach. "Ulm is a great organization that is very interesting to me with its vision of long-term talent. It was not hard for me to choose ratiopharm ulm" Lakovic said.
Jaka Lakovic was among the European greats in his 20-year career as a player. He lifted the 2010 EuroLeague title while playing with FC Barcelona. He played a total 11 seasons in the EuroLeague, most notably with Panathianikos Athens and Barcelona, but also with KRKA Novo Metso of his native Slovenia and Galatasaray Istanbul of Turkey. He was also a main member of the Sloveninan national team, which is where he also started dabbling with the coaching duties.
