Maccabi Rishon LeZion will have local star Darryl Monroe on board for the team's debut in the 7DAYS EuroCup after the sides signed a deal that will keep them together for two more seasons. Monroe (2.02 meters, 33 years old) has played a season and a half for Rishon. He was the 2016 Israeli League MVP in leading Rishon to the Israeli championship. Monroe rejoined Rishin late last season and fueled the team's run to the Israeli championship game where they ultimately fell to Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv. He averaged 12.0 points and 6.4 rebounds in nine regular season games last season and upped that to 16.2 points and 5.7 boards in the playoffs.
Monroe is a well-traveled veteran of European basketball who has played for Aris Leeuwarden in the Netherlands, Boulogne and Boulazac in France, Manresa in Spain, Verona in Italy, Usak and Turk Telekom Ankara in Turkey and Goyang in Korea. This will be his first season playing in the EuroCup.
