Olimpija tabs Boatright at point guard

Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana has found its point man in Ryan Boatright, who has signed on to play with the newly-merged club in the upcoming 2019-20 7DAYS EuroCup. Boatright (1.83 meters, 26 years old) previously played for Cedevita Zagreb in the 2016-17 EuroCup, averaging 17.7 points, 4.0 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals in seven games. Five of those games came in that season's Top 16, when his 18-6 points per game were second only to Alexey Shved of Khimki Moscow Region. Boatright returned to play six EuroCup games last season with Unicaja Malaga in the Top 16 and quarterfinal playoffs, with averaged of 6.7 points and 2.2 assists in under 14 minutes per game. Boatright's four-year pro career has taken him from Grand Rapids of the NBA G League to Capo d'Orlando in Italy and Guangzhou in china before he joined Cedevita in the middle of the 2016-17 season. He played since for Besiktas of Turkey and both Agua Caliengte and Texas in the G League before helping Unicaja short-term last season. Prior to turning pro, he played four seasons with University of Connecticut, winning the NCAA title in 2014.
