7DAYS EuroCup fans will have another top young talent to keep their eyes on this season after ratiopharm Ulm signed teenage guard Killian Hayes to a three-year contract. Hayes (1.96 meters, 18 years old) made his French League debut with Cholet at age 16 and was a part-time starter last season, averaging 7.1 points, 3.1 assists and 2.3 rebounds in just under 20 minutes over 34 games played. He turned 18 last week. He had played nine games with Cholet's senior team the previous season. Hayes was the MVP of the 2017 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship after leading France to the Gold Medal. A year later, he was selected to the all-tournament team at the 2018 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup in Argentina after France won silver.
"Killian Hayes is worth the risk," Ulm's new head coach, Jaka Lakovic, said. "He brings with him everything that a modern point guard needs. He is tall, fast and an excellent passer. Despite his youth, I trust him to lead the team."
