Lokomotiv, Banchi part ways
Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar announced on Friday that it is parting ways with a head coach Luca Banchi. The news comes two days after Lokomotiv lost its fourth straight EuroCup game, a 66-61 road defeat at Umana Reyer Venice on Wednesday night. Under Banchi's guidance, Lokomotiv has a 2-5 record in Group B of the 7DAYS EuroCup, currently sitting in the fifth place in the standings, while sporting a 3-2 record in the VTB League. Banchi, age 54, has spent most of his career in native Italy, with Montepaschi Siena, AX Armani Exchange Milan, Auxilium Torino and Fiat Turin, while also coaching Brose Bamberg of Germany and AEK Athens in Greece. He has an 8-10 career EuroCup record with Fiat and Lokomotiv. Banchi's replacement on the bench of Lokomotiv is expected to be announced soon.
