Promitheas Patras bolstered its frontcourt by inking veteran center Loukas Mavrokefalidis, the club announced Friday. Mavrokefalidis (2.07 meters, 35 years old) arrives from AO Ionikos Nikalas, where he averaged 19.7 points and 6.8 rebounds in 12 Greek second division games this season. He started his career with PAOK Thessaloniki, making his 7DAYS EuroCup debut in the 2004-05 season with his Greek powerhouse. Mavrokefalidis has also played for Virtus Rome of Italy, Valencia Basket and FC Barcelona of Spain, Olympiacos Piraeus, Panathinaikos Athens, AEK Athens and Maroussi Athens of Greece, Spartak St Petersburg of Russia, Qingdao Double Star Eagles of China, and Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius of Lithuania. He helped Panathinaikos win the Greek League title in 2014 and lifted the Greek Cup trophy 4 times - with Olympiacos in 2010 and 2011, and with Panathinaikos in 2014 and 2015. Mavrokefalidis also helped Olympiacos reach the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Championship Game in 2010. He was chosen to the 2012-13 All-EuroCup Second Team, playing for Spartak St Petersburg. Mavrokefalidis shared the EuroCup's all-time PIR record, 55, playing for AEK Athens against Krasny Oktyabr Volgograd on October 14, 2015. He scored 42 points that night, tying for the fourth-best scoring mark in competition history. In 68 EuroCup career games with PAOK, Maroussi, Spartak, AEK and Rytas, Mavrokefalidis has amassed 948 points - 20th overall - and 359 rebounds - 24th.
