Cedevita Olimpija extends team captain Blazic
Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana has continued to build its roster for the 7DAYS EuroCup campaign by signing a two-year extension with veteran swingman Jaka Blazic, the club announced on Friday. Blazic (1.96 meters, 29 years old), a team captain last season when he returned to the club after six years away, averaged 9.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists in EuroCup action, and posted 15.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists in the Adriatic League campaign. Blazic is a veteran of three EuroCup seasons, one each with Crvena Zvezda Belgrade, MoraBanc Andorra and Cedevita Olimpija, and in 32 appearances in the competition he averaged 9.9 points and 3.7 rebounds. He has also played seven seasons in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, where he debuted with his current club in 2011, and in 141 EuroLeague games with Olimpija, Zvezda, KIROLET Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz and FC Barcelona posted 7.0 points and 2.7 rebounds. During his career, Blazic also played with Triglav Kranj and Slovan Ljubljana in his native Slovenia, and has been a long-time member of the Slovenian national team, and has won the gold medal at the EuroBasket 2017. "I am happy I managed to agree with Cedevita Olimpija", Blazic said. "We have a new season in front of us, with new challenges which we will attack with a new roster. I believe we will have a good season with good results."
