Bursaspor brings aboard Newman at shooting guard

Frutti Extra Bursaspor signed shooting guard Malik Newman to a one-year deal, the cub announced on Monday. Newman (1.91 meters, 23 years old) will make his European basketball debut with the club. He arrives from Canton in the D-League, where Newman tallied 16.1 points and 4.5 assists over 39 games last season. He also played briefly with Cleveland in the NBA. Newman played basketball at Mississippi State University and the University of Kansas. He was the Big 12 Tournament MVP in 2018 with Kansas and helped the Jayhawks reach the NCAA Final Four. Newman was the MVP at the U17 World Championship in 2014 when he led Team USA to the gold medal. He began his professional career with Sioux Falls in the D-League.
