Joventut brings back two-time champ Ribas

A familiar face returns to Joventut Badalona after 11 years with the news on Saturday that the club signed Pau Ribas to a three-year deal. Ribas (1.94 meters, 33 years old) arrives from FC Barcelona, where he averaged 1.6 points in 12 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season. Born in Badalona, Pau's father Jordi Ribas played for Joventut and his son joined the team at age 4. He played for all of Joventut's youth categories, as well as for its vinculated squad Club Basquet Prat. Ribas made his first-team debut early in the 2005-06 season, became a full member of its roster before the start of the 2007-08 campaign, and was chosen as the team captain a year later. He helped Joventut win three titles: the FIBA EuroChallenge in 2006, as well as the Spanish Copa del Rey and the 7DAYS EuroCup in 2008.

Ribas also played for Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz and Valencia Basket before joining Barcelona in 2015. He helped Baskonia win the Spanish League in 2010, lifted another EuroCup trophy with Valencia in 2014 and also conquered back-to-back Copa del Rey titles with Barcelona in 2018 and 2019. Ribas has also been a member of the Spanish national team, with which he won gold medals at EuroBasket 2015 and the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
