Umana Reyer Venice reached an agreement with center Gasper Vidmar to stay together for a third consecutive season, the club announced Friday. Vidmar (2.10 meters, 32 years old) averaged 5.0 points and 3.3 rebounds in 15 7DAYS EuroCup games with Reyer last season. In his two previous campaigns with the club, Vidmar helped Reyer win the Italian League title in 2019 and the Italian Cup crown in 2020. Vidmar started his career in his native Slovenia, playing for Ekipa Janze STZ and Geoplin Slovan Ljubljana. He has also played for Fenerbahce Istanbul, Besiktas Istanbul, Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul and Banvit Bandirma of Turkey as well as for Union Olimpija Ljubljana of Slovenia. Vidmar won four Turkish League titles with Fenerbahce - in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2014 - and lifted the Turkish Cup trophy twice: with Fenerbahce in 2011 and Banvit in 2017. He also claimed the Slovenian Cup with Olimpija in 2010. In addition, Vidmar has been a member of the Slovenian national team, serving as starting center for the team that won the gold medal at the FIBA EuroBasket 2017. Vidmar also collected the bronze medal with Slovenia at the FIBA U20 European Championship 2006. "It is fantastic for me to stay at Umana Reyer. I am happy to wear this shirt for another season," Vidmar said after the agreement. "I am happy to continue my career in Venice. At Reyer there is a lot of chemistry between the team and the company, I love my teammates, the staff and all the management. I am proud to be part of the history of the club and of this great family."
