Brescia reunites with veteran big man Burns
Germani Brescia Leonessa bolstered its front line for the upcoming 7DAYS EuroCup campaign with the addition of veteran forward Christian Burns who signed a one-year contract with an option for another season, the club announced on Saturday. Burns (2.03 meters, 34 years old) returns to Brescia where he played in the 2016-17 season, and averaged 11.4 points and 6.6 rebounds, helping Brescia compete in its first season in the Italian top division. Big forward arrives from AX Armani Exchange Milan where he spent the last two seasons during which he played limited minutes in 18 appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. Last season, in 15 Italian League games Burns posted 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds. Before his two-year stint in Milan, Burns was Italian League rebounding leader when he pulled down 10.2 boards in the 2017-18 season with Pallacanestro Cantu. Burns now makes his EuroCup return, too, as he posted 11.8 points and 4.7 rebounds with CEZ Basketball Nymburk of the Czech Republic in the 2014-15 season. During his career, Burns has also played in Poland for AZS Koszalin, in Portugal for FC Porto, in Germany for ratiopharm Ulm, in Ukraine for Zaporizhya, in Israel for Elitzur Netanya, in Russia for Enisey Krasnoyarsk, in the United Arab Emirates for Al Wasl, and in Italy for Montegranaro. Burns has also been a member of the Italian national team.
