Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar reached a new agreement with young big man Valery Kalinov, who signed his first professional deal with the Russian powerhouse until the end of the 2024-25 season, the club announced Monday. Kalinov (2.12 meters, 20 years old) joined Lokomotiv's youth teams in 2017 and made his VTB League debut last season. He mostly played for Lokomotiv's second team in the VTB Youth League, averaging 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 26 games, and for Lokomotiv COP Krasnodar in the Russian second division, averaging 5.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in 12 games. He is very mobile and has good basketball intelligence. His dedication and character are up to standard, so the time has come for him to realize his potential already in adult basketball," Lokomotiv head coach Evgeny Pashutin said. "I am sure that Valery will not only fight for playing time, but will also be able to benefit the team."
