Umana Reyer Venice managed to keep yet another of its core players for the future as guard Stefano Tonut agreed to stay with the team for three more years, the club announced on Tuesday. Tonut (1.94 meters, 26 years old) is set to start his sixth consecutive season with Reyer. He averaged 8.3 points in 12 7DAYS EuroCup games last season. Tonut helped Reyer win two Italian League titles, in 2017 and 2019, as well as to lift the Italian Cup trophy in 2020 and claim the FIBA Europe Cup crown in 2018. He started his career with Falconstar Monfalcone and also played for Acegas Aps Trieste before joining Reyer in 2015. Tonut has also been a member of the Italian national team. He helped its U20 squad win a gold medal at the 2013 European Championships. "I really want to get back to training and playing with my teammates. Being part of this group, besides being stimulating, is fun because we manage to live everyday life with great joy. I believe that being positive and united has helped us to overcome tough and difficult challenges in recent years," Tonut said after the agreement. "I worked a lot during this time to improve and am very happy that the club has maintained the backbone from last year."
