Partizan promotes Scepanovic to head coach

Partizan NIS Belgrade announced Thursday that Vlado Scepanovic has been promoted to the head coaching spot. Scepanovic, 44, replaces Andrea Trinchieri, who had been coaching the team since November 2018. Scepanovic had a brief spell coaching Buducnost VOLI Podgorica and also spent time as Brose Bamberg's sports director before joining Partizan as an assistant coach before the start of the 2018-19 season. In that role, Scepanovic helped Partizan win Serbian Cups in 2019 and 2020 and reach the 7DAYS EuroCup playoffs last season with home-court advantage in all series before the competition was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A world and EuroBasket champion as a player with the former Yugoslavia, Scepanovic played for Partizan in two stints between 2001 to 2004. He helped it win a pair of Yugoslavian League titles and a Yugoslavian Cup crown.
