Frutti Extra Bursaspor bolstered its frontcourt by inking veteran center Oguz Savas, the club announced on Friday. Savas (2.13 meters, 33 years old) arrives from Besiktas Sompo Japan Istanbul, where he averaged 7.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in 19 Turkish League games last season. He started his professional basketball career with Ulker Istanbul and made his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut in the 2004-05 season, at age 17. He stayed with the club when it merged with Fenerbahce, becoming Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul, and played there until 2015. Savas also played for Darussafaka Istanbul before joining Besiktas in 2019. In 202 EuroLeague career games with Ulker, Fenerbahce and Darussafaka, Savas amassed 1,196 points (5.9 ppg.) and 569 rebounds (2.8 rpg.). Savas is a six-time Turkish League champion, lifting the trophy with Ulker in 2006 and with Fenerbahce in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2014. He also won four Turkish Cup titles: with Ulker in 2006 and with Fenerbahce in 2010, 2011 and 2013. Savas has also been a member of the Turkish national team, helping it win a silver medal at the 2010 World Cup. At youth levels, he won silver medals at the 2004 and 2005 U18 European Championships with Turkey.
