Promitheas Patras added experience on the wing with the signing of Charis Giannopoulos for the coming season, the club announced Tuesday. Giannopoulos (2.00, 31 years old) arrives from AEK Athens, where he averaged 7.3 points and 2.2 rebounds in 19 Greek League games last season. The forward also collected 5.0 points and 1.6 rebounds in 11 games in the Basketball Champions League in 2019-20. Giannopoulos started his career with PAOK Thessaloniki and also played with Olympiacos, Panionios and Peristeri before moving to Panathinaikos Athens and making his EuroLeague debut in 2012-13. He left his native Greece to play with Manresa and Obradoiro in Spain before returning to Greece to play for Rethymno and the past two seasons with AEK. He won the 2013 Greek League and Cup titles with Panathinaikos and claimed the 2018 Intercontinental Cup and 2020 Greek Cup crowns with AEK. Giannopoulos will be making his 7DAYS EuroCup debut this season.
