Rishon keeps big man Monroe

Maccabi Rishon Lezion retained an important part of its team for the coming season with the signing of Darryl Monroe, the club announced Tuesday. Monroe (2.01 meters, 34 years old) averaged 10.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists in six games in the 7DAYS EuroCup last season. He also collected 10.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals in 27 games in the Israeli League. He played college basketball at Central Florida and George Mason and started his professional career at Aris Leeuwarden of the Netherlands. He also played at SO Maritime Boulogne and Boulazac Basket Dordogne of France, Manresa of Spain and Verona of Italy. Monroe then moved to Rishon and helped the club win its only Israeli League crown in 2016. After one season there, he then played at Usak Sportif and Turk Telekom Ankara of Turkey and Goyang Orions of South Korea before coming back to Rishon in 2019.
