Bost was at his best, again

The old saying goes a fine wine only gets better with time. Well, it might be time to put Dee Bost in the same category as he has started this season in career-best form.

Bost will celebrate his 31st birthday on October 12, but the guard isn't slowing down at all after tallying 25 points in AS Monaco's 82-57 victory over Lietkabelis Panavezys on Wednesday. Draining 4 three-pointers, Bost set a new 7DAYS EuroCup career-high in scoring. He also collected 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 7 fouls drawn for a performance index rating of 29, which also marked a new personal best.

Bost played a major role in Monaco’s big third quarter, in which the club outscored Lietkabelis Panavezys 35-8 to coast to the win. Bost tallied 14 of his 25 points in the frame, including 3 free throws and 3three-pointers.

This is almost a new dawn for Bost, who came into the season having played 39 games in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague as well as 40 games in the EuroCup. This is his second season with Monaco after he averaged 11.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.6 steals last season. In his final game of the 2019-20 season against UNICS Kazan, he scored 20 points to even his career-high in scoring.

Bost topped that in Monaco’s 2020-21 season opener, tallying 21 points as well as 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in a road win at MoraBanc Andorra. That mark didn't last long as he eclipsed his scoring total with 25 points on Wednesday.

Bost's next EuroCup game - Wednesday, October 14 at home against Telenet Giants Antwerp - will be his first as a 31-year-old. It's unclear if Bost can once again topple his career scoring mark against Antwerp. But he has been getting better and better - just like fine wine over time.
