EuroCup FabFive tips: Experience counts

With races tightening and places in the Top 16 hanging in the balance, the choices to be made in the EuroCup FabFive Challenge take on some extra nuances. Among the players most likely to show up for decisive games are ones who have been there and done that before, which means veterans or those with solid big-game experience.

At the same time, with almost every team now having previously played the same opponent, there are clues to be found in previous performances this season. If a player has performed well in a loss and his team is now at home to avenge that result, you can expect he will get plenty of playing time, as is the case with a couple of players below.

With all that in mind, here are our FabFive Challenge suggestions for Round 7.

Range 1 (0 to 3.99) – He returned from injury last week to score just 3 points, but Unicaja Malaga point guard Jaime Fernandez has averaged 10.3 over the last three seasons, so it's only a matter of when he gets back to those numbers, not if.

Range 2 (4 to 7.99) – Leading Herbalife Gran Canaria against Nanterre 92 in his hometown of Paris, you can expect visiting point guard Andrew Albicy to be inspired to get his new team on the cusp of the Top 16.

Range 3 (8 to 11.99) – After losing their Round 2 game in overtime, ratiopharm Ulm has plenty of revenge motive against Germani Brescia, and Troy Caupain had 18 points in the first go-round. Expect him to do so again at home.

Range 4 (12 to 14.99) – Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar have plenty to play for in a battle for Group C's first place with visiting Segafredo Virtus Bologna, against whom Kuzminskas scored 20 in their Round 2 game.

Range 5 (15.0 or higher) – As long as he's breaking records and taking names, it's hard to bet against Jamar Smith of UNICS Kazan, especially when his team visits the team with the third-leakiest defense in the EuroCup, Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul.

Good luck in Round 7 and remember, roster changes can be made until the last minute as long as the game for the player on your team hasn't started. So keep an eye on late roster changes and be ready to adjust if you need to!
