Herbalife Gran Canaria retooled its backcourt by signing guard Sean Kilpatrick, the club announced Monday. Kilpatrick (1.93 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Tofas Bursa, where he averaged 18.9 points, 4.0 assists and 1.9 steals in nine Turkish League games last season. He started his professional basketball career with Santa Cruz of the D-League and has also played for Delaware of the D-League, Minnesota, Brooklyn, Denver, Milwaukee, Los Angeles Clippers and Chicago of the NBA, Panathinaikos OPAP Athens of Greece and Buducnost VOLI Podgorica of Montenegro. He helped Panathinaikos win the Greek League and Cup double in 2019 and lifted the Montenegrin Cup in 2020. He played two 7DAYS EuroCup games with Buducnost last season in which he averaged 16.5 points.
Kilpatrick fills the roster spot made available when point guard Frankie Ferrari was released over the weekend. Ferrari signed with Unicaja Malaga. The club alose announced that Jacob Wiley's contract has been temporarily suspended. Wiley traveled to the United States after testing positive for the COVID-19 virus when he was with the North Macedonian national team several weeks ago.
