Turk Telekom Ankara strengthened its frontcourt by signing big man Berk Demir, the club announced Saturday. Demir (2.04 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Darussafaka Istanbul, where he averaged 7.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in 31 Turkish League games last season. He started his career with Pertevniyal Istanbul and also played for Anadolu Efes Istanbul before joining Darussafaka in 2018. Demir helped Efes win the Turkish Cup title in 2018, and has been a member of the Turkish national team. He helped Turkey win respective gold medals at the 2013 U18 European Championships and the 2014 U20 European Championships. Demir also won a bronze medal at the 2015 U20 European Championships with Turkey. He played the 2019-20 EuroCup with Darussafaka, averaging 3.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12 games.
