Virtus, Weems pen 2-year extension

Virtus Segafredo Bologna and Kyle Weems have penned a two-year contract extension which will keep the versatile forward at the club through the end of the 2022-23 season. Weems (1.98 meters, 31 years old) averaged 10.4 points on excellent shooting (67.0 2FG, 40.6 3FG) in 21 7DAYS EuroCup games last season, his second with the club. He has played a total of four EuroCup campaigns – the aforementioned two with Virtus were preceded by one each with SIG Strasbourg of France and Tofas Bursa of Turkey.

Weems has also played for Telekom Bonn and BBC Bayreuth in Germany, JSF Nanterre in France and Besiktas Istanbul in Turkey. His trophy case includes winning the Semaine d'As and Euro Challenge with Nanterre and the Italian League last season with Virtus.

“My family and I are very excited! I want to thank the ownership and the club. We've had a great time in Bologna and it’s an honor to be able to spend two more years with this club and play for these wonderful fans,” Weems said. “I can’t wait to start the season, to meet Coach Scariolo, who I’ve seen coach the Spanish national team for a long time, the staff, and to fight together with my teammates.”
