Virtus, Teodosic together until 2023

Virtus Segafredo Bologna reached an agreement with superstar playmaker Milos Teodosic to keep working together until the end of the 2022-23 season, the club announced Thursday. Teodosic (1.95 meters, 34 years old) averaged 15.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 19 7DAYS EuroCup games last season. He ranked fourth in PIR (19.1), second in assists and ninth in scoring, and made it to the All-EuroCup First Team. Teodosic was chosen as the EuroCup Regular Season MVP in each of the last two campaigns. Last season, Teodosic led Virtus to its first Italian League title in 20 years, also reaching the EuroCup semifinals.

Teodosic has been among the biggest stars in European basketball this century. He is ranked sixth on the EuroLeague's all-time charts in three-pointers made with 471. Teodosic is also tied for seventh place on the career charts in assists (1,126), ninth in scoring (2,807) and 13th in free throws made (570). He began his professional career with FMP in his native Serbia and played one season at Borac Cacak before heading abroad in 2007 to play for Olympiacos Piraeus. Teodosic spent four seasons with the Reds and helped the team reach two Final Fours before signing with CSKA Moscow, where he reached six Final Fours in as many seasons and won the 2016 EuroLeague crown. His six All-EuroLeague nods - including three first-team selections - are third-most in EuroLeague history. He was chosen as the 2010 EuroLeague MVP, leading Olympiacos to the EuroLeague Championship Game. Teodosic’s trophy case includes two Russian League titles, six VTB United League triumphs and two Greek Cups. A long-time member of the Serbian national team, he has won silver medals at the Basketball World Cup (2014), Olympic Games (2016) and EuroBasket (2009). Teodosic has also played for Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA.

In 51 EuroCup career games with FMP and Virtus, Teodosic averages 688 points (13.5 ppg.) and 262 assists (5.1 apg.). "In July 2019 I said that I came here to win and we are Italian Champions," Teodosic said after the agreement. "In July 2021, I say I’m staying to win again. I thank (Virtus president) Mr. Zanetti, I know what he expects from us."
