Umana Reyer Venice added some versatility at the forward position with the signing of Vasilis Charalampopoulos to a multi-year deal, the club announced Sunday. Charalampopoulos (2.02 meters, 24 years old) arrives at Reyer after playing last season in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with Olympiacos Piraeus, where he averaged 2.5 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 7 minutes per game over 11 contests. Charalampopoulos came up in the Egaleo system and signed with Panathinaikos Athens in 2012. He played there until December 2017 when he moved to PAOK Thessaloniki for the remainder of the season. Charalampopoulos played for GS Lavrio in 2018-19 before moving to Olympiacos in 2019. He has won two Greek League crowns and three Greek Cups with Panathinaikos and also claimed the gold medal with Greece at the FIBA U18 European Championship 2015 and FIBA U20 European Championship 2017. This will be Charalampopoulos' first stint outside of his homeland. But he will have a connection to home at Reyer as Greek national team guard and former Panathinaikos teammate Michael Bramos plays for the Italian side.
