Eurocup runner-up will aim for a return to the Turkish Airlines Euroleague through the qualifying rounds with a new head coach, Argiris Pedoulakis, on its bench. Unics announced the signing of Pedoulakis, 50, to a one-year contract on Friday. Pedoulakis last coached Panathinaikos for the entire 2012-13 season and half of the last one, leading the Greens to Greek League and Greek Cup titles as well as the fifth and final game of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Playoffs in 2013. His overall Euroleague record with Panathinaikos was 26-22 before he was replaced midway through the Top 16 this year. At Unics, Pedoulakis replaces Andrea Trinchieri, who led the team to the Eurocup finals, where it lost to Valencia Basket Club. Pedoulakis grew up with Peristeri in his native Athens, Greece, and after his playing career, coached the team twice, between 2000 and 2002, and then again from 2010 to 2012. Pedoulakis also coaches five more Greek teams - Makedonikos, Panellinios, Rethimno, PAOK and ΑΕΚ Athens. He guided Makedonikos to the 2005 ULEB Cup final, where it lost to Lietuvos Rytas. By joining Unics, Pedoulakis will be coaching for the first time outside Greece.
