Unics Kazan prepared for its march on the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds by signing one of Europe’s top three-point shooters, Valeriy Likhodey, to a one-year contract. Likhodey (2.03 meters, 27 years old) spent the past two seasons with Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar. Last season he led the Euroleague in three-point shooting with 54.7%, which was the sixth-best single-season three-point shooting percentage in competition history among players with at least 50 attempts in a season. Likhodey averaged 5.9 points and 2 rebounds over 15 minutes in 21 Euroleague appearances for Lokomotiv. He also helped Lokomotiv win the 2013 Eurocup. A product of the CSKA Moscow youth system, Likhodey debuted with the team as a teenager before spending four seasons with CSK-VVS Samara. He later suited up for Triumph Lyubertsy and Spartak St. Petersburg before joining Lokomotiv in 2012.
