After losing a dramatic Turkish Airlines Euroleague opener, Valencia Basket extended a contract of one of its best performers in Round 1, guard Sam Van Rossom, for two more years. Euroleague rookie Van Rossom (1.88 metera, 28 years old) and Valencia had the previous contract expire at the end of this season, but now Van Rossom is committed to the club through 2016-17 season. Van Rossom joined Valencia last summer, and he did not miss a single game during his first season with the team, making 68 appearances in all competitions. That includes starting in all 24 games in Eurocup campaign, helping Valencia lift the title by posting 9.1 points on 43% three-point shooting, 3.5 assists and 1.9 rebounds. In his Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut against Olympiacos Piraeus on Thursday, Van Rossom netted 10 points along with 4 assists and 2 rebounds. Prior to Valencia, Van Rossom played with Telenet Ostend in his native Belgium, Scavolini in Italy, and CAI Zaragoza in Spain.
