WHAT'S NEW
Coach Sasa Obradovic is back to coach the club he once led as a player to Korac Cup glory. The new coach has brought a point guard along with him, Vule Avdalovic, who is one of six new faces wearing Alba jersey this season. Young scoring guard Nihad Djedovic adds versatility for the Berliners, whom also reloaded the front line with Nathan Peavy, Deon Thompson, Zach Morley and Albert Miralles.

THE BACKCOURT
Alba has depth at the point guard position with Avdalovic, DeShaun Wood and Heiko Schaffartzik. Wood is a do-it-all guard who was the team's leader in scoring and assists last season; He can also play two-guard for a quicker lineup. Avdalovic has a great basketball IQ and Alba will need every bit of his Euroleague experience, while Schaffartzik is a huge three-point threat coming off the bench. Djedovic provides versatility as a fearless slasher with an eye to create for others from the wings. Teenager Joey Ney rounds out the perimeter rotation.

THE FRONTCOURT
While they’ll be getting a first taste of Euroleague action, forwards Peavy and Morley are expected to bring combination of size, reliable outside shooting and tough rebounding. Thompson and Miralles should make their presence felt inside. Thompson has size, mobility and shot-blocking skills, while the veteran Miralles is an inside threat with a solid back-to-the-basket game. A lift from the bench can be found with the energy and defense of forward Sven Schultze, and production and rebounding rebounding from center Yassin Idbihi.

OUTLOOK
Alba is back in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague after a three-year absence and the roster has been built in a fashion that gives great hope to its army of faithful fans. Coach Obradovic has the pieces that give the team versatility at guard and size and muscle in the frontcourt, which puts Alba Berlin in contention to repeat the success it had last time around when it reached the Top 16.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Vule Avdalovic
A great deal of responsibility will rest on the shoulders of the experienced point guard, who is expected to help direct Alba’s offense and stop the ball on defense. Avdalovic has proven many times in his career he is more than capable of carrying such a load thanks to his great understanding of the game, which enables him to make the most of both his offensive and defensive skills.
