Spain: Barcelona sweeps its way to finals

FC Barcelona Lassa will take on Real Madrid in the Spanish League finals after it completed a sweep of Tecnyconta Zaragoza in the best-of-five semifinals. Barcelona won Game 3 by the score 81-96. Kyle Kuric knocked down 6 three-pointers from 7 tries to lead Barcelona with 27 points. Chris Singleton added 18 points, Thomas Heurtel tallied 15 points and 5 assists and Ante Tomic posted 11 points and 11 rebounds. Javier Justiz led Zaragoza with 24 points and 9 rebounds, Stan Okoye scored 19 and Renaldas Seibutis and Carlos Alocen each contributed 11. A three-pointer by Pau Ribas and a jumper by Ante Tomic lifted Barcelona to a 7-11 lead midway through the opening quarter. Zaragoza scored the next 5 points to regain the lead and it went back and forth with Barcelona holding a 19-23 lead after 10 minutes. Barcelona took the momentum at the start of the second quarter and grabbed a double-digit lead on a back-to-back Kuric triples, 23-36. Singleton extended the difference to 14 before Justiz halved the Zaragoza deficit. Threes by Adam Hanga and Kevin Pangos gave the visitors a 37-50 halftime lead. A three by Singleton stretched the difference to 20 in the third quarter. Zaragoza showed signs of life with a 9-0 run led by Justiz and Okoye and Fran Vazquez made it a 10-point game. A free throw by Tomic made it 58-69 entering the third quarter. The hosts twice got within 9 early in the fourth, but then Heurtel heated up with a trio of triples as the Barcelona lead soared to 65-81. Zaragoza continued to challenge and rallied to 74-83 on Seibutis free throws, however, the hosts were held scoreless for the next 2 minutes and a Kuric jumper with 2 minutes remaining put the game on ice at 77-92.

Efes edges Fenerbahce to even Turkish finals

Anadolu Efes Istanbul outlasted Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul 101-93 after overtime on Tuesday at Sinan Erdem Dome to even the best-of-seven Turkish League playoff finals at 1-1. Vasilije Micic poured in 30 points and 6 assists and Shane Larkin tallied 19 and 6 to lead the winners. Bryant Dunston did not miss from the field en route to 15 points and Rodrigue Beaubois and Brock Motum added 13 points apiece for the home team. Nicolo Melli led Fenerbahce with 22 points, Marko Guduric scored 18, Ali Muhammed 17, Nikola Kalinic 13 and Kostas Sloukas tallied 11 points and 11 assists in defeat. Muhammed's first three-pointer helped stake Fenerbahce to a 2-7 start and Melli made it 8-14 midway through the first quarter. Guduric extended the margin to 8 before Micic brought Efes within 14-20 at the end of the first quarter. Muhammed hit another three in a 0-7 start to the second quarter and Melli free throws made it 14-27. After the lead hit 21-36 on a Guduric triple, Efes chipped away at the deficit. Sinan Guler's jumper on the buzzer gave Fenerbahce a 40-52 cushion. Five different Efes players scored in a 10-0 third-quarter run that brought the hosts within 55-57. The margin rolled from 9 to 2 before settling at 65-69 on a Melli jumper at the end of the third quarter. Dunston tied it at 71-71 with a slam and Larkin gave the hosts their first lead with free throws, 75-74. There would be six more lead changes in the fourth quarter. Kalinic tied the game at 86-86 with a jumper in the final minute and both teams missed before the game headed to overtime. Motum drained a three-pointer to start the extra session and Efes never trailed again. Micic added another three and Larkin sank free throws to make it 95-88 as Efes rolled to victory.
