Zenit St. Petersburg signed power forward Andrey Zubkov to a three-year contract, the club announced Monday. Zubkov (2.01 meters, 27 years old) spent the past two season with Khimki Moscow Region. He averaged 4.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in 25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague appearances last season as well as 6.0 points and 2.3 boards in the VTB United League, where he helped his team reach the finals. Zubkov has played a total of four seasons in the EuroLeague and three more in the EuroCup. He won that competition in 2013 with his boyhood club Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar. Zubkov has also been a regular with the Russian national team.
"Andrey Zubkov is an experienced player who has passed through the EuroLeague, EuroCup and the national team," Zenit's director general Alexander Tserkovny said. "At the same time, Andrey has a great basketball age, good ambitions and great potential, which we will try to realize together in Zenit."
