Zenit St. Petersburg added an inside presence ahead of its Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut season by signing versatile forward Tim Abromaitis to a two-year deal, the club announced Monday. Abromaitis (2.03 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Iberostar Tenerife, where he averaged 11.7 points and 3.9 rebounds in 35 Spanish League games last season. He helped Tenerife reach the Spanish Copa del Rey semifinals and the Basketball Champions League title game. He started his professional career with ASVEL Villeurbanne and also played for another French team, Strasbourg, with which he debuted in the EuroLeague in the 2013-14 campaign. Abromaitis next suited up for Basketball Loewen Braunschweig of Germany before joining Tenerife in 2015. He helped Tenerife win the Basketball Champions League title in 2017 and lift the Intercontinental Cup trophy in 2018. Abromaitis has also been a member of the USA University national team.
