Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul announced on Friday that four members of the team – including a player, a member of the technical sports staff and two members of the administrative team – tested positive for COVID-19. The club had arranged for the testing of all of its basketball employees on March 21 through the Turkish Ministry of Health.
Apart from one administrative employee who had been previously hospitalized, none of the others with COVID-19 have presented clinical symptoms nor need hospitalization, the announcement stated. That one staffer who had been hospitalized was released after a negative test to observe a 14-day quarantine.
"Our athletes and employees are following the healing processes in their homes under isolation and their condition is regularly monitored by our healthcare teams," the club stated.
The club said that, out of respect for patient privacy, it will not identify those affected unless they self-identify to the public.
